April 30, 2025
The Goldman Environmental Prize just completed a wonderful week of celebration and community. Throughout the week, the 2025 Prize winners met with numerous NGOs and colleagues in the San Francisco Bay Area, sharing stories of environmental impact and building networks for their ongoing work. Plus, they explored Bay Area sites—like Muir Woods and Golden Gate Park—engaged with youth, and sampled San Francisco’s multi-cultural cuisine. Here are some of our top moments together.

A Visit to the Golden Gate Bridge
The Prize winners stopped at San Francisco’s famous Golden Gate Bridge to take in the breathtaking view.
A Tour of Muir Woods National Monument
The 2025 Goldman Prize winners toured Muir Woods National Monument, a stunning old-growth redwood forest in Marin County, just north of San Francisco. It was a perfect opportunity to connect with nature.
A Reunion with Past and Present Goldman Prize Winners
The seven 2025 Goldman Prize winners gathered with past Prize recipients to exchange stories and best practices over a lively Earth Day lunch. All are now a part of the global Goldman Prize community.
A Panel with Climate One
As part of San Francisco Climate Week, Climate One hosted 2025 Goldman Environmental Prize winners Carlos Mallo Molina and Laurene Allen in an intimate conversation at the Commonwealth Club. A podcast of their conversation will be available in May.
The Youth Reception
Some 365 youths attended the ceremony and participated in a panel discussion with 2025 Prize winners Besjana Guri and Carlos Mallo Molina. Before the event, the students also met with local nonprofit organizations, such as San Francisco Baykeeper and the Presidio Trust, to learn about environmental opportunities and issues in their community.
