Yul Choi Chosen to Receive 2013 Chico Mendes Award

Congratulations to 1995 Goldman Prize recipient Yul Choi, to whom the Sierra Club has chosen to award the 2013 Chico Mendes Award.

The Chico Mendes Award is given to organizations and individuals who exhibit extraordinary courage and leadership in the fight to protect the environment.

Yul Choi is currently serving time on a one year prison sentence he received for his involvement in protesting the Four Rivers Dam project in South Korea.

Although Yul Choi will not be able to accept the award in person, an award ceremony will take place on Saturday, September 21 in San Francisco to honor him and other 2013 award winners.
