Ignace Schops (2008) receives an honorary doctorate

June 14, 2011

2008 Goldman Prize winner Ignace Schops received an honorary doctorate from the University of Hasselt, Belgium, for international achievement for biodiversity and social entrepreneurship featured by cooperation and sustainable development.

Ignace had this to say about the honor: “The University of Hasselt gives honorary doctorates to people who achieved something with a broad impact and locally and globally. Giving a doctorate for ‘biodiversity’ is rather rare in Europe and supports the global intentions on biodiversity. The University highly appreciates the work of people who are trying to tackle the problem of the loss of biodiversity and support them in their journey working out solutions for a sustainable world.”

We love seeing our past Prize winners continue to accomplish their goals and receive honors. Congratulations, Ignace!
