Three Earth Week Events with the Goldman Environmental Prize

April 9, 2025

It’s Earth Month at the Goldman Environmental Prize!

As we count down to Earth Day and the 2025 Goldman Prize winner announcement, we are excited to share three opportunities to connect with our global community of environmental movers and shakers. We have so much to learn from these phenomenal leaders, who show us how to roll up our sleeves and get to work.

1. Watch the 2025 Goldman Environmental Prize Ceremony

For 36 years, the Goldman Prize has celebrated grassroots heroes from around the world. These individuals prove that when ordinary people take action, they have the power to turn apathy into positive change for the environment. We look forward to announcing the 2025 Prize winners in a few short weeks.

Tune into the ceremony livestream on Monday, April 21, at 5:30 pm PDT / 8:30 pm EDT, and let your friends know you’ll be attending on Facebook and LinkedIn

2. Attend an Earth Day Panel & Reception with Climate One

Join the Goldman Prize and Climate One for an Earth Day panel and networking reception on Tuesday, April 22, at 5:30 pm at San Francisco’s Commonwealth Club.

Hosted by Climate One’s Greg Dalton, this in-person event will showcase two of this year’s Goldman Prize winners (to be announced on April 21!). Together, we’ll explore what compels these ordinary people to take extraordinary actions to protect our planet. A podcast of the event will be available afterwards for global audiences.

3. Join an Online Panel: “Letting Rivers Run Free”

The prospect of protecting and restoring rivers around the world has never been brighter. Recent victories include successful court cases granting rivers legal personhood, no-go zones preventing new dam construction, and the world’s largest dam removal project on the Klamath River.

Hear from three Goldman Prize winners in a special panel, “Letting Rivers Run Free: Learning from Grassroots Victories.” Co-hosted with International Rivers, this free online event will cover key lessons for the future of river protection.

A Q&A with Sarah Finch on Reshaping Climate Policy in the UK

May 19, 2026

When asked what it’s like to have a major climate ruling named after her, Sarah Finch responded, “It’s really cool!” A writer and editor from southeastern England, Sarah is now a well-known name in environmental circles thanks to the “Finch ruling,” a 2024 decision by the UK Supreme Court that requires environmental assessments to consider the downstream impacts that fossil fuels will have on the global climate, in addition to local…
