Goldman Prize winners are grassroots environmental heroes from each of the world’s six inhabited continental regions. They are women and men from isolated villages and inner cities—grandmothers, farmers, school teachers, lawyers, indigenous chiefs and religious leaders—who have made an extraordinary commitment to protecting our natural environment, often at great personal risk. They demonstrate that ordinary people can make an extraordinary difference.
